Coaches Switch Positions

VES Athletic Director Kyle Alexander and Head Football Coach Bruce Stell will swap positions this summer. Alexander will take over as head of the football program while Stell will assume the responsibilities of athletic director.
“This news is positive and exciting,” Headmaster Phil Hadley said while addressing the football team. He explained that the switch was a result of two men who were looking to take on different positions and that he felt each was more than capable of fulfilling their new role.
Alexander has been stationed as the school’s athletic director for the past eight years. Before that he was the head football coach at, then, Lynchburg Christian Academy and an assistant at Fork Union Military Academy.
“I’m excited about this opportunity,” Alexander said. He went on to say that he is looking forward to getting back to into a more hands-on role with student-athletes.
Stell was named head football coach the same year Alexander took over the AD position. VES was Stell’s first head football job. He accumulated a 46-33 overall record in his eight years as head coach and the team reached the playoffs in four of the last five years.
Stell explained, in a meeting with the football players, that working as an administrator had been a professional goal for him. He thanked the players and assistant coaches for all their hard work.
